Numerical Analysis of Unsteady Flow on Rotating Buckets for Optimal Operation of Pelton Turbines

Abstract: Unsteady free water sheet flow on a rotating bucket of a Pelton turbine is numerically analysed by introducing a new idea of animated cartoon method. The sequential results obtained from frame to frame reveal that the method can be an effective design tool through the study of the distribution of streak patches and thickness of unsteady free sheet flow in rotating buckets.
