Abstract: For most rivers in Ontario, assimilative capacity assessments are required in support of an expansion of an industrial or municipal wastewater treatment facility. In most cases, development pressures are the principal driving force behind the proposed facility expansions. These assessments are designed to determine the capacity of receiving water to assimilate the facility effluent.
