Abstract: A numerical model for long-term bay circulation is developed and verified by the field data in Tokyo Bay. Numerical simulation is performed to study the mech-anism to generate a large scale ‘Aoshio’ which causes huge damage to fisheries in Tokyo Bay. It is found to be induced by the upwelling of a large amount of anoxic water from the flat bottom as well as from the trenches.
