Abstract: A depth-integrated mathematical model is developed for evaluating sand-bar flushing during floods. The predicted stage-discharge curves, which are affected by stream flows, tides and flushing process of sand-bars, coincide with observed data at Shinguu river. In addition, flow velocities and bed variations are reproduced correctly in upstream river bends as well as in the mouth region. These emphasize that the method is useful for predicting dynamic changes of mouth bars and associated phenomena during floods.
