Abstract: The Lagrangian Second Moment Method is used to solve the mass transport equation in order to compute the concentration distribution of a non-reactive contaminant in turbulent shallow flows dominated by advection. The method produces good results for these flows. It minimizes the generation of numerical diffusion, it is free from numerical oscillations, and it is independent of the value of the Courant number.
