Abstract: Seasonal variation in the hydraulic roughness of a small UK river has been identified from data collected on an instrumented study reach. This seasonal effect is thought to be due to the annual growth cycle of the aquatic vegetation in the channel. Corresponding values of Manning's n have been computed for this two-stage meandering river.
