Abstract: Details are given of the application of a highly accurate bounded finite difference scheme, i.e. the ULTIMATE QUICKEST scheme, for the modelling of suspended sediment fluxes. The operator-splitting algorithm, and a conventional discretization (i.e. no splitting) algorithm, have been investigated for using this scheme. The scheme has been applied to a practical study to predict sediment fluxes in the Humber Estuary, England. Comparisons between numerical predictions and field measurements are presented herein.
