Abstract: During the winter 1989-90, several violent storms did occur in the North part of the Atlantic Ocean and affect the coasts of western European countries. Among them, the storm of January 25, 1990 had a quite strong impact on the French Atlantic coasts and in the English Channel and caused some damage on coastal structures and significant morphodynamical changes. This severe meteorological event was retained as a good hindcast study for the application and validation of a numerical wave model.
