Abstract: Mixing of river and sea waters at the river mouths is very important and changeable natural process in the coastal parts of the seas. This process forms an unique zone, whose structure and dynamics depend on value and regime of river water flow, wind regime and form and depth of the nearshore. Study of structure and dynamics of mixing zone has been carried out by the author at the Danube mouth as an example.
