Abstract: The paper reports on the use of a numerical model for the simulation of graded sediment transport to aid in assessing the environmental impact of a proposed dredging scheme on the River Leven in Scotland. The dredging is necessary to further develop Loch Lomond as a water supply resource for central Scotland. As the river provides spawning grounds for salmon and sea trout, and fish access into the upper reaches of the Loch Lomond catchment the environmental impact of the dredging is an important issue.
