Abstract: The numerical model is based on the Semi-/mplicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations (SIMPLE), and computes the flow on a Cartesian gnid. It uses a non-linear k-ε turbulence model to compute the three-dimensional flow using wall functions. The model boundary conditions are modified to reflect the effects of the corners, the curved side-wall, and a roughened bed on the flow. The computed velocity, and turbulence parameter distributions are close to empirical ones and those obtained by experiment. The model also accurately predicts the secondary flow.
