Abstract: The physical processes near a horizontal submerged plate applied beneath waves are very complicated. A flow will be created beneath the plate if several conditions are respected. The aim of the study presented was to determine some of these conditions. It is shown that the physical behaviour of the plate wave filter will be destroyed if the obstruction beneath the plate is too strong. A possible construction beneath the plate has to be designed very carefully if the original behaviour should be kept.
