Abstract:
The characteristics of the Meuse River Basin are presented, with the distributions of area, population and flow. The complications involved in maintaining the public informed during a flood are discussed. An effective alert system conveys information in an easily understood manner and spreads that information quickly, and digitization facilitates communication during flood periods well.
