Abstract: To investigate the control mechanism of ice-induced vibrations on four-legged jacket platforms, a series of model tests were performed on new compliant four-leg model. Each leg of the model was installed an ice breaking cone. During these tests, the ice sheet broke before each single cone nonsimultaneously. The exciting energy of the total ice force was found to be in a wide range of frequencies, and the structure was easy to be excited nonlinear resonance.
