Abstract: Geographic information system technology and water quality model applied in water quality prediction have been proved to be successful in many cases. Rivers are the object of the previous researches and the normal temperature with no ice is usually considered. However, reports about water quality forecast under winter condition with ice are rarely found. This paper takes reservoirs as research object, discussing how to forecast water quality with the help of geographic information system technology and water quality model. It also includes data-input processing, real-time simulation and visualization of the results. This system gains good effects when it is applied to the water quality forecast in Dahuofang Reservoir in Liaoning Province.
