Abstract: The proposed article is devoted to the internal structure of hummocks. The studies were conducted in four different areas in the north of the Sakhalin offshore using the therrnodrilling method. (observation period is from 1985 to 1995). The age of the hummocks investigated vary from 0.5 to 2.5 months. The thickness of solid ice sections in a keel were shown to be increased with the growing of hummock age. This fact shows that the ice fragments lying closely in a keel body freeze together in a course of time. The linear dependence between the middle thickness of solid ice sections and the hummock age were found. The porosity factor for hummocks was studied. The dependence describing the change of porosity factor due to hummock age was obtained.
