Abstract: Caisson has many advantages of the traditional platform in resisting ice loads during offshore activities, but it will still face crisis when piled with ice severely. In this paper, a whole process which consists of sea ice drift driven by wind and current, sea ice interaction with the conical caisson, sea ice ride-up and pile-up against the caisson is detailedly discussed.
