Abstract: Ice thickness in north part of Bohai Bay is simulated using heat budget model based on the meteorological and oceanorgraphical data recorded from a platform, but the results are much different from the actual observations. The reasons for the difference is that the processes of breaking up and drifting of ice cover should be considered when estimateing the ice thickness in moving ice zone. A simpified model is presented to discuss the sea ice break up. The drift of ice floes is traced and simulated too.
