Abstract: This paper presents a numerical model for ice flowing and melting field in estuary for the purpose. of cooling water engineering design and research. Using k- e turbulence mathematical model and the discretized body-fitted coordinate system, the numerical simulation is developed to treat the complicate geometric, topographic and hydraulic conditions in natural estuarine water. The model therefore shows practical and efficient to cooling water engineering. Application has been conducted using the prediction of ice reduction and melting process by heated water discharges at Dandong Power Station of northern China; the numerical results are in good agreement with the experiments and measurements.
