Abstract: Ice loading is the largest hazard to the structures constructed in ice-infested waters. Interaction with Ice may cause a dynamic response of the structure. Ice-Induced vibrations of structures have been reported since early time of ice engineering. Blenkam presented the results of ice force measurements at test piles and platforms made in Cook Inlet, Alaska, over 1963-64 to 68-69 winters (Blenkarn, 1970). He reported that the vibratory response of the structures was measured In almost all the ice loading events. Model tests were also performed to study the dynamic ice loading on a structure. Toyama (Toyama et al, 1983) and Tsuchlya (Tsuchiya et aI., 1985) carried out experiments to study self-exclted vibration of a structure due io ice loading. They pushed ice plates cut out from sea ice against a flexible steel pile.
