Abstract: A numerical model of ice accretion on structures is formulated and some preliminary results are presented. The model has two main components: a hydrodynamical part that gives the flow field and a particle trajectory model. The hydrodynamical model includes a two-equation turbulence model. Presented results include the velocity, pressure and eddy viscosity fields for the flow around a bar of a trash rack at a water intake. Trajectories for a range of particle diameters are calculated and shown. Results are generally plausible, but so far not verified against measurements.
