Abstract: Experimental studies of atmospheric icing on structures have been conducted by using a full-scale model, either in the field under natural conditions or in a wind tunnel where natural snow and atomized water particles were used to simulate natural conditions. Although these experiments were generally costly, there was no alternative because the small scale modelings of atmospheric icing were impossible. This paper describes model experiments of icing on a small scale using activated clay particles and water droplets.
