Abstract: This paper presents an estimating method for behavior of structure in ice and ice loads applied on moored floating monohulls or multi-column structures. In this method, the assumption that an ice sheet can be replaced by a finite number of strips which interact irrotationally with the structure is introduced. The behavior of structure and the change of ice sheet around the structure are calculated time-historically. This estimating method - Ice Strip Method- is compared with ice tank experiments which were performed on a single-point moored barge (CTM: Catenary & Tower Mooring System). Further, the influence due to the change of ice conditions such as thickness, speed, etc., is investigated.
