Abstract: This paper highlights the ice/structure interaction observations and measurements recently obtained on Gulf Canada’s Molikpaq caisson structure. The Molikpaq was deployed for offshore drilling in the Canadian Beaufort Sea during the 1984/85 and 1985/86 winter periods. This structure has experienced loads from both first and multi-year ice interactions in the Beaufort's dynamic winter ice zone and has performed very well. A brief description of the Beaufort Sea ice environment and the bottom founded structures that have been used to date for offshore exploration in this area is also provided.
