Abstract: In this paper, some peculiarities are viewed of ice conditions of water storages and lakes. Ice-breaking means and their application for breaking channels in ice covers of various thicknesses are characterized. The results are described of full scale tests on maintaining of ice channels in a navigable state. The results of investigations are given of calculational and prediction methods of ice thickness variations in the process of its growth and melting.
