Abstract: Factors governing the regime of ice formation in a shiplift chamber under different operating conditions are considered. The process of icing is represented schematically according to the manner in which cold is supplied to the ice surface. A procedure is outlined for calculating the growth of the ice layer. Experimental findings are presented on the rate of icing of a shiplift model.
