Abstract: Based on the linear potential wave theory, the scattering of waves normally incident on the submerged T-type breakwater in a channel of finite water depth is investigated. The method of eigenfunction expansions is applied to obtain the unknown constant coefficients determined from the matching conditions. The present mathematical solution is compared with the existing theoretical and experimental results and demonstrates good agreements. The parameters such as the submerged depth of the horizontal plate, the height and the thickness of the vertical plate, those identified with the wave scattering performance of the breakwater are investigated and discussed. The variations of reflection and transmission coefficients alone with the above mentioned parameters are also presented
