Abstract: Four hydroelectric dams in series, located on the Grijalva River in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, were analyzed. With the purpose of reviewing and establishing an updated operation policy, which allows to take advantage of the water resources in a better way; this, based on the optimization technique of Stochastic Dynamic Programming (SDP) developed by the Engineering Institute of the UNAM. In order to obtain the optimal operation policy, it was necessary to generate 10 synthetic series with 1000 years of record using the modified Svanidze method. This study analyzed the variations in the results of the simulations of the overall operation of the dam system when modifying the optimal extraction policy, considering variations in a volume called DELVOL, which takes into account the existence of biweekly autocorrelations between the inflow volumes. Said DELVOL volume was increased or decreased with the help of coefficients, of which the best results in the system simulation were 0.74 and 1.5 for each dam.
