Abstract: Besides several factors, tidal currents have directly affected the spreading processes of waste effluents discharged in beach zones and play a vital role in the transport of contaminants associated with water, such as dissolved salts, pollutants, suspended materials and other effluents. The research mainly focused on investigating that role by utilizing a spring-neap tidal current formulation. An analytical model which is governed by time-dependent and depth-varying advection-diffusion equation in two dimensions with a point source in a tidally oscillating flow is utilized. The solution is presented graphically by contour plots of concentration to visualize the dispersion of effluent discharges in coastal waters. The concentration at the shoreline is examined by varying the model parameters.
