Abstract: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of hydraulic and qualitative flow variables on the reaeration coefficient. Additionally, the study aimed to identify the most influential variables among those studied and to present the most appropriate equation based on statistical methods, in comparison to existing equations. The study focused on the Karkheh River in Iran and the Iguacu River in Brazil, which are among the largest rivers in their respective countries. The study spanned a period of one year and involved monthly sampling of water quality variables/parameters (WQVPs) and flow hydraulic parameters. The measurements were conducted both in situ and in virtue. The reaeration coefficient was estimated using different empirical, theoretical, and experimental equations. Multivariable statistical analysis was employed to determine the best equation and identify the most effective factors on the reaeration coefficient, as well as to establish the relationships between WQVPs and hydraulic features. By using linear regression, the variables that had the most and least effects were identified and finally the results showed that the Ice and Brown equation is the most appropriate equation out of the four selected equations.
