Abstract: The downstream flow dynamics of piano key weirs installed within open channels are characterized by intricate interactions involving plunging jets emanating from inlet and outlet keys, thereby inducing substantial air entrainment within the flow domain. Estimation of the resulting air volume fraction holds paramount importance from both environmental and engineering standpoints. In order to enhance the understanding of such hydrodynamic processes, results of laboratory scale piano key weir model were used to calibrate optimal CFD numerical model input parameters for air entrainment. The vertical void fraction profiles near the jet impact region were measured using a single-tip conductivity probe. The RNG
