Abstract: The effects of the Reynolds number on the air entrainment characteristics in hydraulic jumps with undeveloped inflow conditions are presented. For hydraulic jumps with undeveloped inflow conditions, the magnitude and distribution of the air concentration have been investigated for a wide range of Reynolds numbers under one inflow Froude number. The present results show the range of Reynolds numbers in which the air concentration distribution in the advective diffusion region is independent of the Reynolds number, demonstrating the relationship between the Reynolds number and relative length for the formation of the advective diffusion region. Further, in the breaking region, the air concentration is independent of the Reynolds number.
