Abstract: The ice cover evolution and river bed deformation interact with each other, but the interaction mechanism between them is still unclear. The river ice and water sediment incorporating problems in the Inner Mongolia reaches of the Yellow River are prominent, and the ice jam flood during winter freeze-ups and spring breakups frequently happen. Concern has been expressed regarding the impacts of climate change on river ice, ice jam formation, and channel evolution in the Inner Mongolia reaches of the Yellow River. Therefore, this study provides an overview of the river ice process, sediment characteristics, and interaction mechanism of river ice on sediment in the Inner Mongolia reaches of the Yellow River. Systematically summarizes some achievements of our research group, and put forward some current research problems and future research plans. Relevant research is significant for ice flooding prevention and suspended river management.
