Abstract: The discovery of local resonance as a mechanism for creating low-frequency band gaps has potential applications in coastal protection and wave energy management. However, the application of local resonance in shallow water waves remains largely unexplored. Inspired by the work of (Hu et al., 2013), the objective of this study is to understand the fundamental principles of local resonance and explore its use to control shallow water waves by conducting theoretical analysis and experimental investigation.
