Abstract: Coastal areas are among the regions most threatened by climate change. Their location at the interface between land and sea makes coastal natural and socioeconomic systems especially vulnerable to changes in marine and atmospheric dynamics. Changes in mean or extreme sea levels, wind wave direction and magnitude, seawater temperature, acidification, air temperature, wind and precipitation or river discharge induce a wide range of impacts on coastal ecosystems leading to a loss of ecosystem services and biodiversity as well as impacts on socio-economic systems affecting people, infrastructure, or livelihoods.
