DNN-Enhanced Predictive Modeling for Sediment Transport in Reservoirs: Riba-Roja Case Study

Abstract: The incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in sediment transport modeling, especially in reservoir contexts, is revolutionizing water resources management and environmental engineering. Sediment deposition and erosion significantly impact reservoirs, crucial for water storage, flood control, and energy generation. Traditional modeling methods often struggle with computational efficiency, accuracy, and managing the complex, dynamic, and nonlinear processes of sediment movement. AI offers a solution by efficiently replicating the Iber sediment transport model, thereby facilitating the demanding calibration process and enhancing sediment transport modeling in the Riba-Roja reservoir.
