Abstract: Despite the progress in utilizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for various applications in recent years, their adoption for regulatory monitoring of turbidity plumes induced by land reclamation operations remains challenging. This difficulty arises from the significantly high spatial resolutions and accuracy required, as well as the wide turbidity ranges with nonlinear reflectance. In addition, uncertainties arising from the complexity of coastal environments must be considered during the processing of the aerial images. In this study, a pilot-scale deployment of UAV-based hyperspectral sensing was carried out to assess the accuracy of turbidity determination.
