Abstract: A holistic resilience assessment identifies opportunities and priorities for enhancing urban resilience, namely when considering interacting services and infrastructure. Several studies highlighted the mitigation of climate change impacts due to natural areas either preserving and/or enhancing those already existing or implementing novel man-made nature-based solutions within urban environments. A resilience assessment framework adding the natural areas to other services has several benefits. This paper presents the ICARIA project and the methodology to expand the ICARIA Resilience Assessment Framework, focusing on the approach and scope to include natural assets as a service provided by the cities or regions to their citizens, workers, and tourists.
