Abstract: In the last decades, flooding has been the costliest hazard in Europe and the presence of cultural heritage assets (hereinafter CH) increases enormously the vulnerability to floods in an urban area. Moreover, the evaluation of CH exposure is challenging, due to its intangible value, but also to the peculiar characteristics of the assets; in fact, frequently CH are rich in artworks and decorative elements that increase their susceptibility. At the same time, CH is crucial for post-disaster resilience, especially for art cities, whose economy is mainly based on tourism (Arrighi et al., 2022). The UNESCO-Resilience project aims to define a framework to analyse the flood risk for CH in art cities through an enhanced exposure characterization, to support the stakeholders to prioritize the adaptation interventions and to improve CH resilience.
