Abstract: The XBeach model is commonly used to simulate coastal hydrodynamics and morphodynamics during extreme weather events, but improving its accuracy requires high-quality field data, which can be challenging to obtain in harsh conditions. This study enhances XBeach model performance by incorporating X-band radar data from the August 13-19,2021, flood at the Tenryu River mouth. The radar, capturing high-resolution images every 2 seconds, enabled Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) to estimate surface velocities and track morphological changes. Comparison with XBeach predictions showed strong agreement, demonstrating the model's improved accuracy. This study highlights the value of X-band radar in enhancing XBeach simulations and obtaining reliable data in challenging conditions.
