Abstract: Tsunami wave attack generates significant loads that are not usually considered during the design stage of coastal structures. The effect of tsunami loads on maritime works depends on the hydrodynamics of the first impact and subsequent current. Small-scale tests are a basic tool to evaluate the stability of coastal structures against tsunami wave attack. However, properly characterizing tsunami characteristics at laboratory scale is challenging. This study outlines a methodology for determine tsunami bore velocities using non-intrusive techniques in small-scale tests.
