Abstract: This study presents the development and application of a hydrodynamic and dispersion model to evaluate the impact of contaminant discharges from the Bajo Grande wastewater treatment plant into the Suquia River, Cordoba city, Argentina. The model calculates dispersion parameters and simulates different scenarios to predict the concentration of pollutants downstream. The results highlight the importance of a correct treatment of wastewaters, since high concentrations of effluents, combined with unfavorable hydrological conditions, may cause the water quality to exceed legal limits. This emphasizes the need for stricter regulations and better management of wastewater to protect the river's aquatic ecosystem. The model can serve as a predictive tool for improving water management strategies.
