Abstract: In order to deeply understand the relationship between the diversion and confluence between the Changjiang River and the Dongting Lake under extreme hydrological conditions in 2022, this paper analyzes the historical trend of the diversion of the three outlets of the Jingjiang River and the confluence of the Dongting Lake based on the measured hydrological data of the diversion of the three outlets of the Jingjiang River and the confluence control station of the Dongting Lake from 1956 to 2022. According to the data in 2022, the three outlets of Jingjiang River continue to show a decreasing trend. Under the influence of extreme water conditions, the diversion flow of the three outlets is only 27.62 billion m3, and the diversion ratio is only 7.5 %. Among them, the diversion ratio in August and September decreased most significantly. The confluence of Dongting Lake is 228.9 billion m3, and the confluence ratio is 40.68 %. The confluence ratio in October and November decreased most significantly. The impact of the diversion of the three outlets of the Jingjiang River is particularly significant. Compared with the average value from 2003 to 2021, the diversion flow in 2022 decreased by 22.29 billion m3, which further reduced the inflow from the Changjiang River in Dongting Lake and aggravated the water supply tension in the Dongting Lake area.
