Abstract: To address the water flows and pollutant transport during urban inundations caused by flood disasters, this paper proposes a coupled numerical model based on the finite volume method using the HLLC approximate Riemann solver. The proposed model employs the triangular unstructured grid for domain decomposition and the multidimensional linear reconstruction method with the MINMOD limiter to achieve higher spatial accuracy. Simulation results indicate that the proposed model could predict the water flow dynamics and pollutant transport in ideal scenarios and urban areas accurately with stable and robust performance. This model can work as a tool for urban managers and decision-makers to improve flood prevention strategies.
