Abstract: An inspection of rural water safety was conducted in 66 counties, covering 280 drinking water projects, 531 villages, and 2,132 families across 6 provinces in the Yangtze River basin from 2022 to 2023. During the inspection, 133 problems were identified, followed by a detailed analysis to determine the underlying causes. Subsequently, constructive comments and suggestions were provided. The special inspections focused on ensuring the drinking water safety of rural residents, enhancing the operation and management of rural centralized water supply projects, addressing reported problems through various channels, and identifying existing challenges in the Yangtze River basin. The local cities and counties were urged to prioritize rural drinking water safety, guarantee the safety of drinking water for rural residents, ensure the efficient operation of rural water supply projects, and offer support to enhance the overall well-being of the community.
