Abstract: To assess the impact of hydraulic engineering construction on the aquatic ecological environment of rivers, the cascade channelization of Shuangjiang navigation hydropower junction project in Fujiang was selected as the research subject. An investigation on the community structure of phytoplankton was carried out in Fujiang mainstream and tributary in April and October, 2023. The results revealed significant seasonal variations, with both average density and biomass of phytoplankton being higher in autumn than that in spring. Specifically, at the dam upstream section, the average densities in spring and autumn were 87.79×104 cells/L and 246.68×104 cells/L, respectively; at the dam downstream section, the corresponding values were 85.55×104 cells/L and 214.31×104 cells/L. In the tributary system, the average densities in spring and autumn were 84.44×104 cells/L and 269.99×104 cells/L, respectively. Overall, the construction of Shuangjiang navigation hydropower junction project had impact on phytoplankton in spring, although the effect was relatively small. The research findings will provide important references for the analysis of the impact of hydraulic engineering construction on the aquatic ecological environment of rivers.
