Abstract: Urban modernization in Malaysia and globally has significantly impacted the natural environment, necessitating the restoration of damaged rivers using artificial riffle structures. These structures aid in rehabilitating river morphology, improving water quality, and enhancing aquatic habitats. This study examines the flow characteristics within artificial riffle zones using numerical modeling techniques. Numerical modeling serves as an efficient tool for analyzing flow dynamics in these zones. Flow-3D® was utilized to simulate flow in the artificial riffle zone under varying Froude number, allowing for an assessment of turbulent kinetic energy in this context. The results from the numerical simulations revealed noticeable differences in turbulent kinetic energy across different flow depth within the artificial riffle zone.
