Abstract: The Three Gorges Project is a crucial tool of the nation, serving as a backbone and control project in the Yangtze River Basin. Following the overall requirements of “demand-driven, application-oriented, digitally empowered, and capability-enhanced, ” the construction goal is to utilize digital twin technology to better enhance the comprehensive benefits of the Three Gorges Project. Focusing on the fine management needs of water quality safety in the Three Gorges Reservoir and the regulation of sewage outlets, a digital twin tracking and management system for the Three Gorges sewage outlets has been constructed. This system integrates technologies such as “drone visible light + infrared thermal imaging” AI recognition, online monitoring, remote sensing image inversion, and hydrodynamic water quality modeling. It includes modules for sewage outlet water quality monitoring, sewage outlet “four forecasting, ” video surveillance, remote sensing image monitoring of sewage outlets, and pollution load calculation. The system achieves functions such as rapid visual cruise monitoring of sewage outlets in the reservoir area, intelligent identification of abnormal discharge, and simulation deduction of pollutant diffusion, forming a new mode of sewage outlet management with a full chain of “monitoring alarm -- simulation prediction -- situation preview -- emergency decision-making. ” It provides technical support for precise decision-making in reservoir water environment protection.
