Research and Application of Water Quality Models for Typical Tributaries of Danjiangkou Reservoir

Abstract: As the water source and main catchment area for the middle route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, the Danjiangkou Reservoir in Xichuan County shoulders the important task of permanently delivering clean water northwards. In this study, we selected the typical tributary of the Danjiangkou Reservoir in Xichuan County, the Xihe River, as the research object. We established a SWMM model to conduct simulations of rainfall-runoff and water quantity and quality in small watersheds. Through simulation research, we identified the sources of pollutants in the Xihe River Basin. Utilizing the calibrated model parameters, the model calculations yielded results that were close to or consistent with the trends in monitoring data. Finally, we proposed engineering measures to improve water quality.
