Abstract: Conducting a scientific and objective evaluation of green development in the Three Gorges Reservoir area is of great significance for formulating effective green development decisions. This article, in conjunction with the actual situation in the Three Gorges Reservoir area, has constructed a set of green development evaluation index systems that include three dimensions: economic development, environmental development, and social development. The principal component analysis (PCA) and entropy weight method were selected as the main analytical methods to evaluate the green development in the Three Gorges Reservoir area. With the Three Gorges Reservoir area as the main analytical focus, Xingshan County in Hubei Province and Fuling District in Chongqing Municipality were used for corroborative analysis to determine the rationality of the evaluation system and evaluation methods. The calculation results show that the overall development of the reservoir area is relatively balanced, but the coordination between economic development and social progress in Xingshan County is insufficient, and Fuling District has overlooked ecological environmental protection in the pursuit of economic growth. Based on this, the article puts forward targeted suggestions for green development in different regions, including expanding the service industry demand, developing green industries, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure, continuously restoring the ecology, improving social security, and optimizing public services, in order to achieve coordinated economic, environmental, and social development in the Three Gorges Reservoir area.
